Her cleaning lady saved this diamond

Three of six prongs had worn out and let go. The stone slipped away to the cushions below. The cleaning lady found it and gave it right back. That’s a level of honest most people lack. Retipping is faster, but it won’t hold as long, so the head came off whole and a new one went on strong. I soldered, cut seats, gave the inside a shine, then sprang all six prongs.
