Stella’s 100-year-old heirloom ring, passed down from her great aunt, had seen better days. The shank was cracked, worn thin, and the beads holding the diamonds were flattened. To bring this sentimental treasure back to life I carefully replaced the damaged shank with platinum from my scrap collection, soldering it on with precision to avoid scorching the diamonds. After rebuilding the prongs with my laser welder and reshaping them with a beading tool I blended the new shank into the ring and polished it to a brilliant shine. Stella’s reaction made every step worth it.

Victoria’s engagement ring lost its central diamond after more than 30 years of wear. The head holding the stone snapped off due to a small mistake made by the original jeweler. Liz brought me a special ruby ring that had seen years of love and wear. Originally found decades ago at a flea market in San Diego by her aunt, the ring’s unique design and history made it a cherished piece. But constant wear had left deep scuffs and scratches on the shank, and it was just a tad bit tight on Liz’s finger. I resized it, tightened the loose ruby, and filled in the wear marks using gold wire and my laser welder. After smoothing and polishing it to a mirror finish, the ring was ready for Liz to try on.
