When Emily’s garnet ring scratched up after just one year, she turned to me to bring her grandmother’s diamond back to life. The garnet, a 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale couldn’t handle daily wear, so I resized her ring, rebuilt the broken prongs with a laser welder, and set her grandmother‘s diamond in its place. After tightening the loose side stones and giving the ring a full polish, this heirloom shines again, tougher than ever.
