This vintage 🔗 platinum eternity band was brought to me in really bad condition. It was cracked in 5 spots and was missing two diamonds. Over its more than 100 year lifetime all the milgrain along the edges had also worn away. Watch as I bring this antique ring back to life.

Liz brought me a special ruby ring that had seen years of love and wear. Originally found decades ago at a flea market in San Diego by her aunt, the ring’s unique design and history made it a cherished piece. But constant wear had left deep scuffs and scratches on the shank, and it was just a tad bit tight on Liz’s finger. I resized it, tightened the loose ruby, and filled in the wear marks using gold wire and my laser welder. After smoothing and polishing it to a mirror finish, the ring was ready for Liz to try on. Marco brought in his grandfather’s ring, which needed to be sized down 2.5 sizes. After removing part of the shank I softened the gold by heating it, allowing me to carefully close the gap with a vise. I soldered the seam, sanded the joint, and reshaped it. I also gave the band a natural worn look to honor its history. Now, as Marco wears it, he carries both the ring and his grandfather legacy with him.

Diamond eternity bands can indeed be sized. Sometimes the continuous line of diamonds gets interrupted by a piece of gold. That was previously done on this ring and the customer needed it sized larger. So I cut and stretched it open and added another piece of gold but this time I carved out a channel and added in three new diamonds to make the whole ring look as seamless as possible.

Watch me take these dormant gemstones and bring them to life in a pair of dazzling dangling earrings. There’s two oval cut amythest weighing a combined 5.22 carats and four blue topaz weighing a total of 4.38 carats. I first modified some 14k white gold basket and bezel heads by drilling holes and attaching two handmade jump rings at each connection point. Then I set the stones, polished the parts, and rhodium plated them.

Claire brought in her vintage 18k white gold cocktail ring. It has a very intricate three row pattern that goes all the way around the backside. She needed it sized up but didn’t want to break the pattern. I love these types of challenges and I think I did a pretty good job because Claire couldn’t even tell where it had been sized when she came to pick it up.
