Naomi nabbed this ring for dirt cheap at an estate sale but its sloppy setting made it look fake. The reason it was so cheap is because someone put an oval diamond into a round setting. Romeo lost his wife a while ago, and her wedding and engagement rings were the most prized possessions he still had of hers. After years of wear, Jane’s rings had become too tight due to her Arthritis and in Part 1, I had to cut them off to prevent further damage to her finger. Now it’s time to bring them back to life. I’m resizing, repairing, restoring, and soldering them together to fit her right ring finger so she can wear them comfortably again.

This 92-year-old customer came in with her platinum wedding set stuck on her severely arthritic finger. She never planned to take them off, but as her knuckles swelled over the years, removing the rings became impossible. Using a ring cutter I carefully cut through the bands and pried them open to free her finger. Now that the rings are off I’ll be reshaping, resizing, and soldering them together for her right hand, where the knuckles aren’t as arthritic. Stay tuned for Part 2 to see the full restoration!
